Maddy is 11 months old

The Huseby family moved on 10/17/2009. We are now settling into our new abode. Maddy wasn't sleeping well in the new home, but later we learned that a couple restless nights were due to the arrival of another tooth. Her fourth tooth popped through on 10/20/2009. She has four bottom teeth now. We are hoping that she gets some top teeth soon so she can chew more productively. Maddy visited Dr Jon Larson this month again for her 9 month check-up. We were a little late for this appt because the Dr was busy with the start of school. Matt, Debbie & Maddy all received regular flu shots, but the H1N1 vaccine wasn't available yet. Her growth is holding steady. She weighs 20 lbs still, is 29 inches long & has a head circumference of 17 inches. She is crawling with purpose, but wants to walk so badly. She will let go of stationary objects while standing to balance without help and then grab onto something or drops to the floor. She looks like a surfer on a surf board! Of course, she "cruises" when she can while holding onto things too.

Maddy enjoyed her first Halloween immensely! We went pumpkin picking at Uncle Dewey & Auntie Carmen's place. She loved feeling, smelling and looking at all the pumpkins. We took pictures of Maddy in a pile of pumpkins. When we tried to pick her up, she cried because she wanted to stay right in the middle of the pumpkins. We had a freak winter storm the day before Halloween which dumped a bunch of wet snow on us. However, on Halloween it was sunny and the temperature was high enough to melt a lot of the snow that had fallen the day before. Matt was the official pumpkin carver this year. Maddy couldn't keep her hands off the pumpkin guts and was fascinated by the lit jack-o-lanterns. Madeline was a ladybug for Halloween. She was a cute little bug. You could tell she was excited to be dressed up. All the attention we gave her may have prompted that too. She did a little trick or treating and then had jack-o-lantern shaped pizza for supper. We are currently decorating Maddy's room in the new house. We'll have before and after pictures for everyone to view next month. We hope your Halloween was "spooktacular" and look forward to the upcoming holiday season.

Magnets mesmerize! Pizza crust is alway a great lunch.

Ready for fall. Laying down on the packing job.

Maddy the admin. You want it when? Ya right!!!

Maddy the executive. She still loves her baths.

Madeline is 10 months old!

Maddy is a ball of energy. She pulled herself up for the first time on 9/14/09 and, since then, has learned how to get back down too. She hasn't gained any weight this month which is very surprising because she is eating large amounts regularly. She is 29 inches long and still weighs 20 pounds. Her meals consist mostly of regular food because she is refusing baby food. Her 3rd tooth came in on 9/22/09 to help her chew her steak, chicken, fish, and anything else we eat. The new tooth is on the bottom, to the left of the existing teeth. As mentioned previously, Madeline doesn't sit still much these days and loves standing so her favorite toys this month include her activity table, her car from Jerry & Donna Split and her xylophone. She could barely see where she was going so, thanks to her cousin Tiffany, Maddy endured her first hair/bang trim on 9/11/09. Those shiney scissors were so fascinating.

Grandma & Grandpa Escherich surprised us all with the ultimate new playground set for Maddy and the other kids on the campground. It is so cool! Maddy will be on it constantly when she gets a little older, but had a lot of fun trying it out.

Her list of cute skills learned now includes waving hi & bye, giving high fives and she clapped for the first time this month on 9/29/09. We already have a Halloween costume, but you'll just have to tune in next month to see her trick or treating skills.

Happy Fall Ya All!

Yoga pose - Making beautiful music

I'm standing & leaning on everything

New Rainbow "swingset" (on steroids). It is 5' tall with a platform and canopy, has a rock wall, swings, a glider, a tire swing, rope swing, slide, etc., etc.

Maddy's ears are healed. We traded the studs for some new bling.

New earings!

The laundry basket makes a great vehicle.

However, the play car isn't so bad either. Driving without a license.

Gardener Maddy... who still loves Elmo.

Sweatshirt from Uncle John & Aunt Renee is Mommy's favorite. Did someone say chocolate?

Teething on someone else's fingers. Bangs were trimmed thanks to cousin Tiffany.

I love my activity table because I can practice pulling myself up and getting back down.

I pulled myself up for the first time in my pack N play.
I can't wait for everyone to see my Halloween costume next month!

Madeline is 9 months old

Maddy is now 29" long and weighs 21 pounds. The big news this month...
Maddy is crawling! She is getting pretty quick too. She took her first "crawl steps" on 8/18/2009. She went swimming in Leaf Lake for the first time this month on 8/11/2009. It was the first really hot day that we've had here for a while. The lake was still a little chilly which brought tears to her eyes at first. Once she was used to the temperature, she really liked splashing and floating. Maddy is very lucky to have a friend her age named Mazie. She and Mazie had their first playdate on 8/21/2009. During her playdate, we started to work on sharing. She needs a lot of practice with that issue. It was really fun to see the two girls interact. Maddy is very aware of others and takes interest in what they're doing at all times. Maddy moved to a larger car seat this month too. Mom and Dad picked out a cover where stains won't be easy to see. The doorway frame was starting to feel the effects of the Johnny Jumper that Maddy has been happily using so we stopped. Many thanks to Hollie, our niece, for lending her Jumperoo to us. Maddy is enjoying it tremendously and can once again jump to her heart's content! Only a couple more weeks until the campground closes for the season and then it's moving time on Oct. 17th. Until next month, enjoy what's left of summer!
